Wednesday 1 April 2020
Hello UCH family,
I trust this finds you well, and able to be at peace in this time of rest which has been afforded us.
There’s not much new that’s happened over the past few days, so this is largely a repeat of what you’ve seen before, except for the slightly adapted prayer guidelines which Annemarie has put together these prayer guidelines for us to use. Please do join together in prayer at 8.00 each evening.
Other than that the paragraphs below are just a reminder about:
the project to make HAND-MADE MASKS
the DAILY DEVOTIONS that are available on our web-page and on Face-Book
the UCH HELPLINE that is available if you’re needing any form of assistance
the OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE GIVING towards the work of the Lord in Hermanus
And then an added encouragement which you’ve heard over and over: PLEASE STAY AT HOME.
And then the wonderful assurances found in PSALM 121:
Psalm 121 (New Living Translation)
A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem.
1I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there?
2My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!
3He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber.
4Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
5The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
6The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.
7The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.
8The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.
PRAYER AT 8.00
Please remember that we are praying as a church at 8.00 pm (20h00) each evening.
PRAYER GUIDELINES FOR WEEK 2
Please read 2 Chronicles 5:2, 7, 13 & 14
The ark of the LORD’S covenant represents God’s Holy Presence. When we give God his rightful place in our lives, He will make his Presence known in glorious ways. Ask the Lord to guide you through his Holy Spirit as you pray that we will give God his rightful place in each of the following.
Continue also to pray for protection and safe-guarding against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pray for yourself, your family and loved ones.
Pray for our church with its many ‘high risk’ members. Pray also that we may “build ourselves up in our most holy faith…keep ourselves in God’s love.” (Jude vv 20,21)
Pray for our community, especially for the informal areas where isolation is impossible.
Pray for all health facilities and workers: hospitals, frail care centres, clinics, doctors, staff, etc.
Pray for businesses in Hermanus as well as the general economy of our country.
Pray for protection and wisdom for our president, the government and all leaders.
“…they raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang:
‘He is good; his love endures forever.’
Then the temple of the LORD was filled with a cloud…
for the glory of the LORD filled the temple of God.” Verses 13-14
Prayer is life passionately wanting, wishing, desiring God’s triumph.
Prayer is life striving and toiling everywhere and always for that ultimate victory.
With love in our Lord’s name
Ken and James
Doctors in Hermanus are trying to encourage the wearing of masks as being the coolest thing people can do. But not the surgical masks, as masks from other material are almost as effective, and the medical personnel need the surgical masks.
So we are looking to support the effort to make thousands of hand-made masks available. To do this we need people who are able to help with making masks. Material and patterns are available.
If you are able to help, please contact Denise Eady on 082-902 1245,
or you can email her on email@example.com
