PRAYER GUIDELINES FOR WEEK 35
Rededicating my life to Jesus Christ.
At times we who have claimed that Jesus is Lord of our lives
allow other commitments to challenge that priority.
We need to ask, “Is Jesus truly Lord of my life?
Why do I not feel as close to Him as I once did?”
Let us invite the Holy Spirit to give us understanding,
because we need to learn the following:
God wants to reclaim my life and restore joy
If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love,
just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and that your joy may be complete. (John 15:10-11)
Christ wants to be Lord of all my life
Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? (Luke 6:46)
God is ready to forgive and cleanse me from sin
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us
our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Other Christians are ready to forgive and restore me
Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently.
But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. (Galatians 6:1)
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,
just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)
God wants me to live in fellowship with Him now
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
(1 John 1:7)
God wants me to be filled with His Spirit
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.
Instead, be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18)
God will make me acceptable for His ministry
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)
Heavenly Father, I surrender control of my life to You once again.
Give me ‘a stubborn, irrefutable certainty’ that You can be trusted
with my family and those I love, with my health and my future,
with my bank account. And all the other things that I’ve been trying to control without You,
I relinquish those to You as well. I trust You, help me with my lack of trust. Amen.
